History of VitacurldTM

When F.P. Woll & Company was established in 1907, the company's main business was supplying the furniture and bedding industry with loose curled hair. Curled hair, the same furniture and bedding filling material used in Europe for centuries, has also been used as a filling material in the US since our country was established.

Frederick P. Woll developed a unique process of putting a special curl in his hair products and called it VitacurldTM. Trademarked in 1927, this product symbolizes the finest curled hair in America.

Woll's VitacurldTM Hair can be found today in furniture inside the chambers of US Senators and Legislatures. Some pieces of furniture in Former President Washington's home in Mt. Vernon, Virginia contain VitacurldTM as well. This filling material is used frequently by a majority of the finest upholsterers in the US.

VitacurldTM quality filler materials are used as natural and economical fillers for seats, backs and arms of chairs and sofas, as well as fillers for mattress pads. These VitacurldTM products are available today in a variety of grades:

  • 15% horse hair - 85% hog grey
  • 50% horse hair - 50% hog grey
  • 50% polyester fiber - 50% hog hair
  • 100% horse hair
  • 100% cattle hair

Other grades of VitacurldTM also available upon request.
